2.Historical Development

Şırnak University was established on May 22, 2008 with Law No. 5765. The Central Library began providing service in 2009 on the 4th floor of the building currently used by the Faculty of Engineering and Şırnak Vocational School. In 2012, our branch library affiliated with the center began providing service on the 4th floor of the newly constructed Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences building adjacent to the Faculty of Theology building. In February 2016, it moved to our new building with 8000 square meters of indoor space on the Mehmet Emin Acar Campus and continues to provide service. Our library aims to provide the necessary materials and services to the students, faculty, college and vocational school students, academicians and administrative staff operating within the University for education-training, research activities and to evaluate their free time. It aims to cope with the speed of increase in information that reaches incredible dimensions every passing day and to support the education offered by our University in this direction.

3. Mission, Vision, Values ​​and Goals

Mission

To provide the current information required for research/development, education-training to the service of academicians, researchers and students by following contemporary and technological developments in the place where information meets technology.

Vision

In line with the requirements of Şırnak University's education and research programs, it aims to be a modern information center that does not fall behind developments within the framework of total quality principles by transferring information to the mass it serves, using the developing technologies of the age and performing electronic information transfers between national and international information centers.

Values ​​and Achieved Goals

1- 80% of the goals have been achieved in the library infrastructure.

2- Wi-Fi network has been established throughout the building.

3- 40 computers have been put into service for users.

4- 8 individual study rooms have been created.

5- 4 group study rooms (for 12, 14, 16, 18 people) have been put into service.

6- 1 Information Technology class (for 14 people) has been put into service.

7- An environment where 400 students can work at the same time has been prepared.

8- A cafe hall for 84 people has been put into operation for student resting purposes.

9- A seating group for 80 people has been created.

Audio-Visual hall for 10-45 people is arranged and there are approximately 1,150 CDs, DVDs, Movies

and audio recordings.

11-Average 100,000 bookshelves are furnished.

12-YORDAM Automation Program and Loan-Return System are used.

13-It provides service with RFID Security System

14- VETİS Campus and Off-Campus Electronic Resources Access System is available.

15- Social Media Communication (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook) accounts are available.

16- KİTS (Interlibrary Cooperation and Tracking System) is used.

17- TÜBESS (Interlibrary Information Document Sharing System) is used.

18- Wifi Network (Eduroam and Turkcell) is available.

19-Library data is backed up and stored by YORDAM and the Department of Information Technology.

20-Automatic Information Message System is used.

21-Some of the library work and transactions can be done with the mobile library service.

22-All our users and staff are participating in collection development activities.

23-Our users can also express their requests through the web page with written, wish and suggestion boxes.

24-Physically disabled people have access to all floors in the building.

25-The reading room with a capacity of 84 people is open between 08:00 and 22:00.

26-Our library website is available and is open for service at all times.

27-The library building is monitored from inside and outside by security cameras, and the data is stored for an average of 40 days.

28-There are automatic fire extinguishers in the library.

29-The library entrances and exits are provided by a turnstile system.

30-Library work and operations are carried out by Librarians who are experts in their fields.
